The year begins by solidifying our presence in the US market. With over 26 million customers and more than 1.5 million global customers, we continue on our mission to break barriers in the financial universe.
In February, we acquired YellowFi, expanding the solutions offered to customers who wish to save, transact, and invest in the United States.
In May, we obtained the license from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), a self-regulatory agency for brokerage firms in the United States, to operate as an investment broker in the country through Inter&Co Securities.
The best is yet to come…
Hello, USA!
In 2022, we brought our purpose of simplifying people’s lives through our Super App to the United States.
In June, we migrated our shareholder base to Nasdaq, allowing us to showcase our product, strong balance sheet, and the strength of our orange-blooded team to the international investment community.
Continuing with this plan, we launched our Global Account, enabling users to make dollar remittances with just a few clicks. The year ends with 24 million customers.
An orange nation without borders. In 2021, we surpassed the milestone of 16 million customers and expanded our offering of products and services in our Super App through new partnerships, the launch of new products, and strategic M&A activities.
In March, we acquired 60% of Meu Acerto. In May, we acquired 45% of Granito and reached an agreement between Inter Seguros and Sompo.
In June, another significant milestone was achieved. Our third follow-on raised R$ 5.5 billion.
In the second half of the year, we established an important partnership with ABC Brasil bank and took a significant step towards internationalization. We acquired Usend as part of our expansion plan for financial and non-financial products and services in the United States.
Much more than a bank: a Super App. In 2020, we expanded our horizons and achieved several significant milestones. In the first half of the year, we acquired DLM Invista, which became Inter Asset.
In September, a new follow-on was conducted, raising R$ 1.2 billion. We entered a new phase of growth with a vast pipeline of new products. Throughout the year, we also formed partnerships with major national retailers and held the first Inter Day, achieving R$ 30 million in GMV (Gross Merchandise Volume) within a 24-hour campaign.
The year ended with 8.5 million customers and other exciting developments such as, launch of the Inter Protection Platform and Inter Wealth Management, renewal of the partnership with Liberty Seguros and introduction of new products like Inter Travel and CDB + Limit.
It was a year filled with achievements and innovations.
A year of consolidation and growth. In 2019, we carried out our first follow-on, raising over R$ 1.2 billion to invest in our business. Additionally, we were already present in 99% of the national territory with our digital account.
And what comes after the revolution? Innovation. We started offering a one-stop shop in our app, a complete marketplace of financial and non-financial products and services.
We ended the year with over 4 million account holders and a platform with high rates of customer recurrence and active users.
The revolution changed the story. We became the first digital bank to carry out an initial public offering (IPO) on B3 – Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão. Additionally, we migrated our servers to Amazon Web Services, becoming the first bank in Latin America to operate in the cloud.
By this point, we already had over 1.4 million digital customers, simplifying the banking experience.
Fearless of the new, we changed our name from Intermedium to Banco Inter. The rebranding reflected the significant evolution of our business and the market around us. We are simple and modern, just as financial life should be. And the news spread: we ended the year with over 370,000 digital customers.
We reached 80,000 digital customers, a growth of 599% compared to the previous year. However, we wanted much more.
We initiated our foreign exchange operations, started offering a multi-purpose Mastercard-branded card, and launched an important innovation: our mobile application.
Traditional banks are bureaucratic. That’s why we felt the need to simplify and break down financial barriers. To change this story, only a Banking Revolution would do. And so it happened. We launched the first 100% digital checking account in the country.
Completely free of fees and integrated into a comprehensive platform of financial services, the Intermedium Digital Account represented our entry into retail banking.
Solid foundations for the beginning of a great story. We were founded in Belo Horizonte, MG, in 1994, under the name Intermedium Financeira. At that time, we were part of the economic group of MRV Engenharia S.A.
Our SMB Credit operations started a few years later, in 1999. In 2001, the Payroll Credit operations followed. We excelled in these areas for years until 2002 when we separated from the economic group of MRV Engenharia S.A., and our history began to change.
In 2007, we began operating in the Real Estate Credit segment, and the following year, in 2008, a significant milestone occurred: we received a multiple bank license from the Central Bank of Brazil.
In 2012, we started forming the Inter Group with Inter Seguros (Insurance). With this addition, we were able to offer a wide range of insurance policies to our customers.
In the following year, 2013, Inter DTVM (Distributor of Securities) became part of the Inter Group, and our distributor was authorized by the Central Bank of Brazil and accredited by the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) to operate in different areas. Additionally, we were considered compliant with the ANBIMA Code of Regulation and Best Practices for Investment Funds.
There were 20 years of constant transformations. From a financial institution to a bank, from regional to national, from credit-focused to multiple services. But it was time to take a leap forward…
